Overview

KV57 is an ancient royal tomb located in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor. It served as the burial place of Horemheb, the last pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty. Travellers visit to study its layout and painted wall reliefs, which illustrate the architectural style and decorative traditions of New Kingdom tombs.

Getting There

The site is on the West Bank of the Nile, opposite central Luxor. Travellers can take a vehicle across the Nile Bridge or cross the river via ferry and hire a taxi on the West Bank. The trip from the city centre takes roughly 40 to 60 minutes.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend about 30 to 45 minutes on site to walk through the corridors, inspect the burial chamber, and examine the wall artwork.

When to Visit

Visit early in the morning to avoid midday heat and large tour crowds. Underground corridors can feel hot and congested when tour groups arrive together. The winter season between November and March offers the most comfortable outdoor conditions.

Nearby Attractions

The site is situated within the main necropolis and can be easily combined with other adjacent tombs:
