WV24

WV24 is an ancient Egyptian tomb located in the Western Valley of the Kings in Luxor. It is a site of archaeological interest, first noted in the 1820s and later visited by Howard Carter, though it was not fully excavated until 1991 by Otto Schaden. Travelers visit this site to see the structural remains of an ancient burial chamber and to explore the less-traveled sections of the Theban Necropolis.

Getting There

The tomb is located on the West Bank of the Nile. From Luxor city centre, you must cross the river via ferry or bridge and then travel by taxi or hired vehicle to the Western Valley. The journey typically takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic and the specific crossing point used.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 45 to 60 minutes to explore the tomb and its immediate surroundings.

Planning Your Visit

The site is exposed to direct sunlight with little shade. It is advisable to visit in the early morning to avoid the midday heat. The winter months (November to February) offer the most temperate weather. While the main Valley of the Kings is often crowded, this specific site generally sees fewer visitors.
