Nha Trang Bay is the stretch of coastline and open water fronting the city, backed by a long public beach and dotted with islands offshore. Most visitors come for the beach itself — a wide sand strip running along the city's edge — or to arrange a boat trip out to the islands for swimming, snorkelling, or just seeing the bay from the water. It's the main reason Nha Trang functions as a beach destination rather than just a transit stop.
Getting there
The beachfront runs directly along the city centre, so if you're staying anywhere central you can walk to it. Reaching specific island or boat-tour departure points may require a short taxi or grab ride of ten to fifteen minutes.
How much time to allow
A few hours covers a beach visit. If you're joining an island-hopping boat tour, plan for most of a day, since these typically combine several stops with time on the water in between.
When to go
Mornings tend to be calmer and cooler for swimming before the midday sun gets strong. The central beach area gets busy in the late afternoon and evening when locals and tourists come out to walk along the promenade, and weekends draw larger crowds than weekdays.
