Ko Khangkhao
Ko Khangkhao, also called Ko Taikhang khao, is an islet about 500 meters south of Ko Sichang, Chonburi, Thailand. It can be reached by boat from Ko Sichang or Ko Loi from Sri Racha. Ko Khangkhao has two beaches: East Beach, with some small reefs that make walking difficult, and West Beach. It is surrounded by coral reefs. The islet has a resort, and tents may also be set up.
What it is
Ko Khangkhao (also written Ko Taikhang Khao) is a small, low-key islet just south of Ko Sichang, off the coast of Chonburi. There's no town here, just a stretch of coral-fringed coastline, two beaches, and a small resort. People come for the quiet water and reef, not for facilities or activities beyond swimming and snorkelling.
Getting there
Ko Khangkhao isn't reached directly from Pattaya. You first get to Sri Racha or Ko Sichang, then take a boat across — the crossing itself is short, given the islet sits only about 500 meters south of Ko Sichang. From Ko Loi in Sri Racha or from Ko Sichang, boat operators can arrange the hop over; there's no scheduled ferry service, so plan to charter or ask locally about crossings.
How much time to allow
A half day is enough to cross over, walk both beaches, and swim or snorkel around the reef. If you want to stay overnight, the resort or a tent on the beach are options, but most visitors treat this as a stopover rather than a full-day destination.
When to go
East Beach has small reefs close to shore that make walking in barefoot or at low tide awkward, so check conditions before wading in. West Beach is the easier option for a straightforward swim. Because the boat crossing depends on sea conditions, calmer weather makes the trip more reliable — rough seas can complicate getting across or back.
Combining with nearby spots
Ko Thai Ta Muen is right next door, about 0.7 km away, and easy to pair with a visit here on the same boat trip. Ao Udom, roughly 9.2 km off, is a reasonable add-on if you're already island-hopping around Sri Racha. The Sanctuary of Truth (18.1 km) and All Saints church (18.9 km) sit back on the mainland near Pattaya, so they're better treated as a separate day rather than combined with this trip.
