Santissima Annunziata
산티시마 안눈치아타 성당(이탈리아어: Basilica della Santissima Annunziata)은 이탈리아 피렌체 산티시마 안눈치아타 광장에 있는 성당이다. 레온 바티스타 알베르티가 디자인을 하였다. 성모 마리아의 종 수도회의 모교회로 여겨지고 있다.
What it is
The Basilica della Santissima Annunziata is a Renaissance church regarded as the mother church of the Servite Order, founded by seven Florentine noblemen in the 13th century. It sits on the northeastern side of Piazza Santissima Annunziata, one of the more architecturally coherent squares in Florence, framed by porticoes on three sides. Travellers come for the church interior, its chapels and frescoes, and for the square itself, which is quieter and less commercial than the main tourist routes.
Getting there
From the historic centre, it's an easy walk of about 15-20 minutes from Florence Cathedral, mostly flat and through pedestrian-friendly streets. If arriving via Florence's main train station, Santa Maria Novella, plan on roughly a 15-minute walk. If flying in via Florence (FLR) or Pisa (PSA) airport, you'll first need to reach the city centre by train, bus, or taxi before continuing on foot.
How much time to allow
A visit to the church interior typically takes 20-30 minutes. Add extra time if you want to sit in the square itself or look closely at the portico decoration facing it.
When to go
Mornings tend to be calmer, before day-trip groups touring the nearby museums pass through. Because the square is a through-route for visitors heading to the Accademia and the Archaeological Museum, foot traffic on the piazza can pick up by midday. The church interior itself is usually less crowded than the square, since many passersby don't stop in.
What to combine it with
This is one of the most efficient clusters in Florence for sightseeing on foot. The National Archaeological Museum is about 100 metres away, the Galleria dell'Accademia around 200 metres, and the Museum of San Marco a similar short walk. All three can realistically be combined with the basilica in a single half-day, especially if you're already prioritizing the Accademia for Michelangelo's David. Florence Cathedral is about 600 metres away, making it a natural next stop if you're continuing toward the centre.
