카레지의 메디치 빌라
Villa Medici at Careggi
카레지의 메디치 빌라(이탈리아어: Villa medicea di Careggi 빌라 메디체아 디 카레지[*])는 이탈리아 중부 토스카나 지역의 피렌체 인근 언덕에 위치한 귀족 빌라이다.
Villa Medici at Careggi
This is one of the earliest Medici country villas, built up in the hills north of Florence and later expanded under the patronage of the family. It's included in the UNESCO World Heritage listing covering the Medici villas and gardens of Tuscany. Travellers go for the architecture and grounds and for a sense of Medici-era country life away from the palaces in the city centre, rather than for a conventional museum collection.
Getting there
The villa sits north of central Florence, above the city rather than in it. It's reachable by local bus from the centre, or by taxi/car in around 20–25 minutes depending on traffic; it's too far and too steep for most people to walk comfortably.
How much time to allow
Plan on roughly one to two hours to see the villa and gardens at a reasonable pace.
When to go
Because it's outside the main museum cluster of central Florence, it tends to see far fewer visitors than sights like the Accademia or San Marco. Being outdoors and hillside, the gardens are most comfortable in spring or autumn; summer midday heat can make the walk up and around less pleasant.
Combine it with
- Villa La Petraia (1.7km) — another Medici villa nearby, a natural pairing for a half-day covering both properties.
- Museum of San Marco (3.4km) — back toward the centre, worth combining if continuing on to the city.
- Galleria dell'Accademia (3.5km) and Santissima Annunziata (3.6km) — both within a similar distance, useful if building a route that ends in central Florence.
Arriving via Florence (FLR) or Pisa (PSA) airport, this villa is best treated as a half-day trip combined with Villa La Petraia rather than a first stop, since it sits apart from the main sightseeing area.
