Dormition of St. Mary Cathedral
Located within the walls of Berat Castle, this Albanian Orthodox cathedral is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. Visitors go here to see the religious architecture and the Onufri Iconographic Museum, which is housed inside the cathedral and displays a collection of traditional religious paintings.
Getting There
The cathedral is situated inside the citadel area. From Berat city centre, you must walk uphill through the historic quarters to reach the castle gates. Depending on your pace, the walk takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

When to Visit
The site is open throughout the year. To avoid the largest groups of tourists, visit in the early morning or late afternoon. The castle area can become crowded during the peak summer months.
