Overview

The Pyramid of Khafre is the second-largest structure in the Giza pyramid complex, constructed as the tomb for Pharaoh Khafre, successor to Khufu. It is recognizable by the preserved limestone casing stones remaining at its apex, showing how the pyramids originally appeared.

Getting There

From central Cairo, the site is located to the southwest. Travelling by taxi or ride-hailing service takes between 45 and 90 minutes depending on traffic.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend about 1 to 2 hours to walk the perimeter and inspect the surrounding remains.

When to Visit

The winter months from October to April bring milder weather. The area gets crowded by late morning as tour groups arrive. Arriving early in the morning helps avoid crowds and desert heat, as the site provides no shade.
