KV13: The Tomb of Bay

KV13 is a tomb located in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt. Unlike the majority of the surrounding burials designed for pharaohs, this site was built for Bay, a high-ranking chancellor during the Nineteenth Dynasty. Travelers visit this site to see the architectural and artistic differences between a royal tomb and one created for a high official.

Getting There

The tomb is located on the West Bank of the Nile. From Luxor city centre, you can cross the river via ferry or bridge and take a taxi or shuttle to the Valley of the Kings entrance. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the crossing method.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to explore the interior of the tomb and observe the remaining wall decorations.

The Valley of the Kings is an open-air desert environment. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning to avoid the peak midday heat. The site can become crowded with tour groups, particularly during the winter peak season.
