Choosing a base in central Naha

Okinawa is an island destination, not a walkable city, so "central and near stations" means staying along the Yui Rail monorail in Naha, the island's only rail line. Elsewhere you need a rental car, so a central Naha base suits travelers who want easy airport access and a walkable stay.

Kokusai-dori and Makishi

Makishi and Miebashi stations sit next to Kokusai-dori, Naha's main shopping street, and the public market. Good for travelers who want restaurants and shops within walking distance and don't mind evening foot traffic. About 15-20 minutes from Naha Airport Station by monorail.

Omoromachi (Shintoshin)

Omoromachi Station serves a newer district with malls and wider streets, quieter at night but still central. A common pick for travelers collecting a rental car before heading north.

Asahibashi and Kencho-mae

These stations sit between the airport and Kokusai-dori, near the prefectural offices, Naha Bus Terminal, and Tomari Port, where ferries to nearby islands depart. Useful when combining Naha with an outer-island trip.
