Where should couples stay in Sapporo for a honeymoon trip?

Sapporo's sightseeing sits inside a small radius around Odori and Sapporo Station, so the choice for couples is more about atmosphere than distance.

Areas that suit this theme

  • Sapporo Station: where the airport train arrives, with department stores and covered walkways. Convenient in winter, but busier and less intimate.
  • Odori / Susukino: home to the park, TV tower, and food alleys. Good for couples who want to walk to dinner and drinks.
  • Nakajima Park side: quieter and park-facing, a short subway ride from Odori. Suits couples wanting calm evenings with fast access to the centre.
  • Maruyama: leafy streets near Maruyama Park and Hokkaido Shrine, good for slow walks. Further from the sightseeing loop, so allow extra travel time.

Transport connections

The airport train runs directly to Sapporo Station without transfers, making it the natural first stop. The Namboku, Tozai, and Toho subway lines fan out from Odori and Sapporo Station, so a hotel near either hub keeps sights within a short ride. An underground passage links the two stations, useful in snow.

What to check before booking

  • Confirm bed configuration (double vs twin).
  • Check distance from a subway entrance; winter snow makes this matter more than map distance suggests.
  • In Susukino, ask whether the room faces away from the main street for a quieter night.
  • Check if breakfast is included if slow mornings matter to the trip.

When to visit

Winter draws couples for the snow festival period, and central rooms near Odori fill early. Summer suits those seeking cooler air than mainland Japan, and cherry blossom and autumn foliage weeks add demand too. Booking matters more for Odori/Susukino than for the quieter Nakajima or Maruyama areas.
