Tas-Silġ Archaeological Site
Tas-Silġ is an archaeological complex located on a hill overlooking Marsaxlokk Bay. The site contains layers of history spanning several millennia, including remains of Neolithic megalithic temples, as well as later Phoenician and Roman temple structures. Visitors go here to see the physical transition of religious architecture across different civilizations in one location.
Getting There
The site is located southeast of Valletta. To reach it from the city centre, you can use a rental car or a ride-sharing service. The drive typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the ruins and view the onsite displays.
When to Visit
The site is outdoors and exposed, so visiting during the spring or autumn avoids the peak summer heat. Early morning or late afternoon is preferable for better lighting and cooler temperatures. It generally does not experience the same level of crowding as the primary temples in the center of the island.
