Choosing a Base for a Luxury Stay in Da Nang

Da Nang's 5-star hotels sit in a few distinct pockets. The right one depends on whether you want a closed-off resort, a beach walk to restaurants, or a city base by the river.

Son Tra Peninsula

Secluded resorts against forested hills with private coves, not open public beach. Suits travelers who want a self-contained resort and don't mind relying on shuttles.

My Khe / My An beachfront

The central strip along Vo Nguyen Giap and Truong Sa is most convenient: beachfront hotels face restaurants and bars across the road, with the river bridges and center a short taxi away. Good for beach mornings and city dinners.

Non Nuoc, near Marble Mountains

Quieter, lower-density and golf-course resorts south of My An, roughly midway to Hoi An. Suits repeat trips to Hoi An's old town, farther from Da Nang's nightlife.

Han River / Bach Dang

A small set of riverfront hotels near Dragon Bridge trades beach access for a walkable center and river dining.

Transport and Sights

No metro; taxis, Grab and motorbike taxis cover transfers. DAD airport is roughly 20-30 minutes from the beach strip, closer from river hotels. Ba Na Hills' cable car is inland, 45 minutes to an hour away; Hoi An is closer to the southern beach hotels than to Son Tra.

What to Check Before Booking

  • Direct beach access versus a public road between hotel and sand
  • Shuttle frequency and cost to the center or Hoi An, especially from Son Tra
  • Whether the property has older, unrenovated room wings
  • Beachfront bar noise or construction reaching your room

When to Visit

Dry season, roughly February to August, draws the most visitors, peaking around Tet and the late April to early May holidays. September to December brings more storms, which can affect beachfront resorts and pools, though availability eases.
