Choosing where to stay in Da Nang for the best value
Da Nang splits into a beach side and a river/city side, and that split matters more for value than star rating. The beach strip has dense hotel competition, which keeps rates in check; the city side is cheaper still but trades sea views for river life.
My Khe / My An beach strip
The main tourist beach is a long flat stretch with dozens of similarly priced small hotels along and just behind the sand. Shopping a few streets back from the beach road often gets a lower rate for a short walk to the water. Grab and motorbike taxis are easy to flag here any time.
An Thuong pocket
A few blocks inland, An Thuong is a grid of narrow lanes with cafes, bars and budget-to-mid guesthouses aimed at longer stays. It suits travelers who'd rather walk to food than rely on rides, and rooms cost less than beachfront for a short walk to the sand.
Hai Chau / Han River side
The city center near the Han River and Dragon Bridge is where locals live and work. Guesthouses here run cheaper than the beach areas, sit near markets and local food, and are a short ride from the airport, but you'll need a taxi or Grab to reach the beach.
What to check before booking
- Exact walking distance to the beach, not just "near My Khe" in the listing name
- Whether the street is a quiet motorbike lane or a louder main road with easier taxis
- Whether breakfast is included, since that changes the cost comparison between areas
- Reviews mentioning bar noise in An Thuong or traffic noise on beach-road hotels
When to visit
February to May is shoulder season with milder weather and more rooms at lower rates. June to August is peak season, when beach-area rooms fill and prices rise.
