Seminyak, Ubud and Nusa Dua sit far apart, so moving between them eats into a short trip. Pick one as your main base and treat the others as day trips.

Seminyak

Beach clubs, sunset bars and a dense restaurant strip suit couples who want an active evening within walking distance, built around dining and nightlife.

Ubud

Inland among rice terraces and forest, Ubud fits couples focused on spas, yoga and slow mornings. Nights are quiet and roads narrow, so a driver matters more here than at the beach.

Nusa Dua

A gated resort district with calmer, sheltered beaches. Suits couples wanting a self-contained stay, less street noise, and an easy run to the airport.

Transport and access

All routes start at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). There is no metro, so plan on a taxi, hotel transfer or private driver for every trip. Seminyak is roughly 20-30 minutes from the airport; Nusa Dua is similar or shorter via toll road; Ubud is closer to an hour, more at peak times. Ride-hailing apps are restricted by local taxi cooperatives in parts of Seminyak and Ubud, so confirm pickup rules with your hotel.

What to check before booking

• Whether the room has a private or plunge pool, since this varies within one property
• Whether the property is adult-only, if quiet matters to you
• Actual walking distance to the beach or rice-terrace view shown in photos
• Noise exposure in Seminyak if the room faces a bar street
• Road access in Ubud, since some villas sit down narrow lanes reachable only by car

When to visit

Dry season, roughly April to October, brings the most reliable weather. July, August and December-January are busiest, with rooms booking out earliest and rates rising ahead of those dates. Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, falls on a different date each year and closes the airport and streets for a day, so check the date against your travel window first.
