Where to stay in Bali for the best value

Seminyak, Ubud and Nusa Dua sit far apart, so a single trip usually means picking one base per stretch rather than day-tripping between them.

Seminyak

Dense with independent guesthouses and villas competing on price, so mid-range rooms with a pool and breakfast are common. Walkable to the beach, restaurants and shops, cutting down on paid transport for the rest of your stay.

Ubud

Homestays and family-run guesthouses often include breakfast and cost less per night than comparable Seminyak rooms, though you'll rely on a driver or scooter for rice terraces, temples and the wider area. Center traffic is slow at peak times.

Nusa Dua

A gated resort district where nightly rates skew higher, but all-inclusive style packages can mean better value if you plan to stay on-property rather than sightsee. It's closest to the airport of the three.

Transport and airport

There is no metro in Bali. From Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), Nusa Dua is the shortest ride, Seminyak takes longer through coastal traffic, and Ubud is furthest, often over an hour depending on time of day. Moving between all three mid-trip adds real transfer time and cost, so factor that in before booking multiple stays.

When to visit
